Faye the Rhino
On Christmas Day 2016 a little Rhino became an orphan when poachers shot her mother with a high calibre rifle shattering her leg bones. Dr Peter Buss and his team did all they could for the little rhino’s mother but her wounds were too severe. Dr Buss had no choice but to euthanise the mother and rescue the baby.
The baby was airlifted to the Skukuza Bomas to receive treatment before she was taken in by Care for Wild to go through the rehabilitation process. She was named Faye which means loyalty or belief.
